We recommend you enable Device Access Control for all sites in the same day and that you plan and communicate when this will be in advance. Here's our guide to help you manage this change with minimal disruption.

Step 1

📅Choose a time and date at least one week in advance

📢Send communication across the organisation about the change

✉️We have produced email templates to help you communicate:

  • What Device Access Control is

  • What your team need to do (update app)

The app version is included in these templates

Step 2

📱Check the list of devices before enabling DAC.

It's best to have as many of your devices on the correct app version as possible to ensure a smooth transition.

If a significant number of devices aren't on the latest version, it's advisable to choose a different date to enable Device Access Control. Choose a new date and resend communication if carers haven't updated the app to the latest version

Step 3

🚦Enable DAC in the same day for all sites

Other advice

🕖Devices which haven't been updated when you switch Device Access Control on will still be able to use the Carer App as usual. However, this will mean

  • These devices aren't covered in this security feature

  • When the devices do update to the latest version, you will need approve them manually. The device cannot access Log my Care until an admin approves it.

  • Admins will receive an email when a new device requests access

New devices in the future

Now you have Device Access Control up and running, any new devices moving forward will need to be approved by an admin. For our domiciliary care providers, this means that you should try to approve new devices before the carer using it needs to start their first shift.
