Log chaining is a feature that allows you to create and link multiple care logs in one session, without needing to go back to the home screen or restart the process each time.

This is especially helpful for carers who prefer to write up all their notes at the end of their shift. Instead of creating logs one by one, log chaining lets you save time by entering them all in a smooth, continuous flow.

Why Use Log Chaining?

  • Saves time by letting you enter multiple logs without going back and forth.

  • Helps maintain accurate records for carers who prefer to log everything at once.

  • Ensures that all important events (like incidents or medication) are properly recorded and flagged.

Recording a log via the Carer App

When your session times out, your progress will not be saved, so please ensure to save any progress where possible.

Step 1:

Log into the app, select the logs option at the bottom center and pick a service use you would like to create a log for.

Step 2:

Once you have selected the service user, you will see a choice of 8 categories, all aligned with CQC regulations. Please choose the category that best matches the type of care you are providing.

Step 3:

Within each category, you'll find a selection of items, each with it's own icon. Simply tap on the one which fits what you're looking to log. Fill in the details for the first log as needed.

Step 4:

Once you're done, click "Save & Keep Logging".

Step 5:

You'll now be taken directly to a new log screen. Select a different category if needed. Continue with Another Log. (Note: If it is an incident, the system may automatically flag important logs like incidents to alert relevant staff.)

Step 6:

Keep saving and logging one after the other if needed. Each log is saved on its own, but they are all linked together in a chain for easy tracking.

When you're finished adding logs, just tap the blue “Save Log” button. This will save all the logs you created during that session.

All of them will show up under the service user's name in the Logs section, grouped together for easy viewing.
