Overview

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) enhances security by requiring an additional verification step beyond a password. This article explains how enforced MFA works in the Care Office, its impact on users, and when recovery codes may be needed.

Can users turn off MFA once it has been enforced?

No, users will not have the ability to disable MFA once it has been enforced. This measure ensures continuous security for Care Office accounts.

Does enforced MFA apply to the Family Portal?

No, enforced MFA only applies to Care Office users, including:

  • Admins

  • Senior Carers

  • Group Admins

  • Group Managers

Family Portal access members and Care App users will not be required to use MFA.

Difference Between Enforcing MFA and Manually Setting Up MFA

When MFA is enforced, users must set it up before they can log in. Without enforcement, users can choose to enable MFA voluntarily. Enforced MFA ensures all applicable users have this additional security measure activated.

Logging in After MFA Enforcement

Once MFA is enforced, users will not be able to log in again without first setting up MFA. The setup process must be completed to access the Care Office.

When to Use Recovery Codes

Recovery codes are required if a user loses access to their email inbox or their authentication device. These codes allow users to regain access to their accounts securely.
