How do I sign a PRN medication in the Carer App?

Sign PRN medications for a client.

Written by Felena De Wulf

Signing a PRN medication in the Carer App will automatically populate the client's eMAR, so you can see what medication has been administered.

To sign a PRN medication you'll need to have medication permission, which an admin can set on the Team page.

Step 1 - Go to the client's medication page in the Carer App 🙋‍♂️

You can access a clients medication page from the bar at the top of the client list or on the clients' page.

Step 2: Click the 'Not scheduled' tab

Here you will see all the PRN medications that have been added for this client.

Please note: you will need to scroll all the way to the bottom to find the 'Sign PRN Medication button'. This is different to the Scheduled medications - there is only 1 button at the bottom.

Once you’re ready to sign, click on the green ‘Sign PRN Medication'

Step 3: For the PRN medication that was administered, click 'Yes' 💊

There’s also a space for extra space to write more information if needed. For example, why this medication was given.

Step 5: Once you’ve signed for the appropriate medication, click 'Next' 👉

You'll then see an overview of the medication you just signed. You also have the option to add any additional comments for this handover and add a witness.

Step 6: You'll now see an overview of the PRN medications that have been signed, if everything is correct, click 'Sign eMAR Chart' 👍

The signing will automatically appear in the clients eMAR alongside any additional information that has been filled out. If the medication was signed less than 4 hours ago, there will also be an alert saying 'Taken Recently'.
