Using Voice to Text on the Carer App

The Carer App supports your device’s built-in voice-to-text (speech-to-text) feature, allowing you to dictate notes instead of typing. This can save time and make recording care quicker and easier.

How to Use Voice to Text

  1. Open the Carer App and navigate to the area where you need to enter text (e.g. logs, notes, care plans).

  2. Tap into a text field to bring up your device’s keyboard.

  3. On your keyboard, tap the microphone icon 🎤

  4. Start speaking clearly — your words will be converted into text automatically.

  5. Tap the microphone again (or stop speaking) to finish dictation.

  6. Review the text and make any edits if needed before saving.

Device Requirements

Voice-to-text is not a feature within the Log my Care app itself — it relies on your device settings:

On iPhone (iOS):

  • Go to Settings > General > Keyboard

  • Ensure Enable Dictation is turned on

On Android:

  • Go to Settings > System > Languages & input

  • Ensure Voice typing / Google Voice Typing is enabled

Tips for Best Results

  • Speak clearly and at a steady pace

  • Use punctuation commands like “full stop” or “comma” if needed

  • Check for accuracy before saving

  • Ensure you have a good internet connection (some devices require this)

Troubleshooting

If the microphone icon isn’t showing:

  • Check your keyboard settings

  • Ensure microphone permissions are enabled for your keyboard

  • Try restarting your device
